MISSION
The “Good Practices in Mollusc Aquaculture” (OPTIMA) project stands as a pioneering initiative poised to redefine the landscape of seafood farming, with a specific focus on the cultivation of bivalve molluscs. This method, distinguished for its sustainability as a food source without the reliance on feed or antibiotics, extends beyond its nutritional advantages to actively contribute to the health of marine ecosystems. In response to the dynamic evolution of the aquaculture sector, OPTIMA takes a central role, addressing the pressing need for a robust training framework within the aquaculture production domain.

02

OBJECTIVE
The primary objective is to empower shellfish farmers through tailor-made training models, fostering the development of skills and knowledge specifically tailored to mollusc aquaculture. OPTIMA aligns with sector and market demands by formulating a comprehensive training program encompassing diversification of productions, quality certifications, environmental protection, pollution prevention, innovative production techniques, awareness of ecosystem services, and digital skills for shellfish harvesters.

EXPECTED RESULTS
At the core of OPTIMA’s transformative approach lies the implementation of an innovative Training Model in e-learning. This ensures that aquaculture professionals and mentors receive a state-of-the-art education. Skilled mentors digitally guide students using the project-developed platform and instructional videos, creating a dynamic and effective learning experience. OPTIMA stands as a beacon for advancing aquaculture practices, championing sustainability, and contributing significantly to the overall health of marine ecosystems.
